Sovereign 2: 0 in Wankdorf – YB against feared opponent Servette in the gentle cycle to victory – sport

Exactly one hour had passed when the trade fair in Wankdorf seemed to have already been read: YB striker Felix Mambimbi was already showered with congratulations from his teammates for his 3-0 score, which was well worth seeing, when the VAR in Volketswil intervened.  The  hit was preceded by an elbow blow from Bern’s Mohamed Camara to Théo Valls.  The  consequence: Yellow for Camara instead of a goal for YB.

A quarter of an hour later, Mambimbi flirted again with a personal goal. After taking out a penalty himself, he tufted the ball in order to insert it. But again the video referee straddled in between and correctly punished a striker foul.

Mambimbi and Co. should not have cared about the decisions in the end.

 The y managed the 2-0 lead from the first half with confidence.

 The re Servette defender Steven Rouiller turned out to be a tragic figure:

• 4. Minute:

   The  Geneva center-back deflects a corner kick from Miralem Sulejmani into his own goal.

• 38. Minute: A cross from Gaël Clichy nods Rouiller heavily at the YB box, but goalie David von Ballmoos hexts the ball over the crossbar with a huge reflex.
• 41. Minute: YB full-back Quentin Maceiras served in the center Jean-Pierre Nsame with a high cross. Rouiller lets the YB top scorer go and see how he heads to 2-0.

 The  Bernese were able to save energy for next Thursday’s showdown on the European stage and take revenge on their feared opponent Servette (1 win from the last 6 games) for their 2-1 home defeat last December.

So it goes on

For YB, the big second leg in the sixteenth finals of the Europa League at Leverkusen is on the program on Thursday. Servette receives the FCZ the day before (6:15 p.m.).
