This is intended to make labeling simpler and more transparent. According to representatives of the Household Appliances Forum, the energy class is one of the top reasons consumers decide to buy.

Start is March 1st.
The re is a transition period of around two weeks for trading.
The new label will make understanding even easier, said Alfred Janovsky, Managing Director of Electrolux and Chairman of the Forum Hausgeräte (FHG), in an online press conference on Tuesday.

The energy classes for large household appliances have existed since the mid-1990s. An important reason for the reform is the technological development towards more efficient devices. In laundry care, for example, around 90 percent of the appliances are currently in the best class, it was said today.

The re is no direct conversion method for the new efficiency classes, says Michael Mehnert, Managing Director BSH Austria and FHG Board Member. © www.de24.news

The actual energy consumption of the devices does not change. “Only the scaling will change visibly for the consumer.” In class A, space was left for innovations and more energy-efficient models. What changes is the measurement method. It has been adapted to the changed habits, for example when loading a dishwasher. In the future, for example, a device that was previously marked with A +++ could be classified with “C”. © www.de24.news

The re is no general rule for this, it depends on the device in question.

According to a marketagent survey presented at today’s press conference, two thirds of respondents pay attention to the energy class when buying a device “very” and a third “rather”. Other important aspects of the purchase are good quality (71.7 percent) and a good price-performance ratio (66.3 percent). © www.de24.news

The majority of the 500 respondents (around 59 percent) pay the most attention to the letter when it comes to labels. Around half say they roughly know the differences between the current label. Around two thirds don’t know that a new label is coming. © www.de24.news

The FHG therefore expects a higher need for communication in the short term.
