Popular social media app and US label want to build an experimental partnership

The two companies have also announced an “expanded global alliance” in which they want to work together on new features for the social media platform.

“We will continue to support artists and songwriters in the future by reaching music fans on TikTok together with UMG. Our platform is an important factor influencing the charts. Together we will help the rise of new talent and also introduce old artists to a new audience.” says Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music at TikTok.
At UMG, superstars such as Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and rapper Eminem are under contract. In the future, TikTok users should be able to incorporate all of these artists’ songs into their clips without experiencing licensing difficulties. UMG and TikTok also want to experiment with new applications with the existing music.
