Train accident near Winterthur claims seriously injured – TOP ONLINE

For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the car driver got onto the SBB railroad tracks late Monday evening around 10.30 p.m.  The  woman and her vehicle got caught between two SBB trains that were traveling in the opposite direction, the Zurich canton police said.  The re was only a distance of 80 centimeters between the trains.  The  car was completely destroyed.
 The  woman was trapped in her car. After the rescue by the fire brigade, the seriously injured woman was driven to a hospital in an ambulance. Around 80 train passengers who were uninjured were evacuated.  The y were taken on by buses.  The  two train drivers were also uninjured.
Car jumped off the rails
An Interregio from St. Gallen and an Intercity from Zurich were affected by the collision. Upon impact, the first car or the axle jumped off the tracks.  The  collision caused considerable damage to the trains and the roadway.
That night, the SBB started to put the trains back on track and repair the track. Due to the necessary work, the route remains closed. How long the interruption will last cannot be said yet, said an SBB spokesman.  The  two trains have since been transported to Winterthur. Experts are now investigating whether there has been damage to the track system or whether gasoline has leaked from the car.
