Get out of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project

Brussels (OTS) At noon today, the EU foreign ministers announced that they were launching new sanctions against Russia for the detention of the Kremlin critic Alexej Navalny. © www.de24.news The  aim is to activate the new sanctions regime through which individuals can be banned from entering the EU for human rights violations and their assets can be frozen.

Thomas Waitz, EU MEP for the Greens and co-chair of the European Green Party, says: “It took a long time before something finally happened. But this is just a little pat on the fingers and will not impress Vladimir Putin. © www.de24.news The  EU has to face tough consequences and pull out of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. We need to reduce our dependence on Russian gas instead of increasing it. This move would do more than weak mini-sanctions. In the midst of the economic and climate crisis, investments in an additional gas pipeline are also short-sighted and unprofitable in the long term. ”
