WM: Ivica Kostelic with anger posting because of the changed starting rule – winter sports – alpine skiing

Due to high temperatures, the starting rule in the 2nd run will be changed at short notice: Only the top 15 start in reverse order. After that, the runners start from 16.

Ivica Kostelic is horrified and writes his frustration in an Instagram post from the soul. For him it is a violation of fairness – and calls on the athletes to resist.

“Where are you now, you ‘freedom fighters’ who campaign for fairness in sport? Why don’t you stand up and stand against the interests of the herd,” the Croat writes. “Are you afraid to speak up in the face of undeniable injustice? You who swear fairness?”

For the Croatian, this is at the expense of the young runners, who are deprived of the opportunity to show themselves.

“We’re looking for the champions here – are there any of you?” Asks the 41-year-old. “Strength is shown in generosity. Injustice is the way of the weak!”

For Kostelic it is clear: “A sporting victory that is not achieved fairly and honorably is worthless. And never forget:

 The  greatest evils are based on the violence of the few and the silence of the many. Talk now or never talk again about fairness .. . “

At the end of the posting, he marks top runners like Marco Schwarz, Manuel Feller, Alexis Pinturault, Henrik Kristoffersen or Daniel Yule.

Waldner to the decision

FIS Race Director Markus Waldner explains the controversial decision before the race:

“I was there at the women’s race yesterday, it’s extremely warm. In addition, there is the sunshine on the slope, especially in the lower part.

 The  slope suffers from it. It will survive the first round. A few coaches disagreed, but we did have decided so. It protects the good guys a bit. But everyone has the chance to finish in the top 15. It should not be possible for someone with number 30 to win the medals. We last had a race like this in Chamonix. ”
