An insulting email to the virologist Christian Drosten resulted in a fine for a 58-year-old.
“In May 2020, the convicted person sent an email to the Charité Virological Institute under the subject“ Coronagoebbels ”, whose director, Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten, offended, ”tweeted the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.
A fine of one month’s salary against the “alleged conspiracy theorist” is now legally binding, it said. When the penalty order was obtained and the amount involved, remained open on request.
Drosten himself had repeatedly spoken of massive hostility and death threats against himself in the past.
The scientist is also considered an expert on corona viruses beyond Germany. Since the beginning of the pandemic, he has become known to the general public with his assessments of Sars-CoV-2 and recommendations for politics.
