Jake Angeli and others stormed the US Capitol on January 6th. Now he puts his actions into perspective in a television interview.
Jake Angeli was involved in the January 6th storming of the US Capitol. Pictures of him in a shaman costume went around the world.
He is currently in custody for his actions. His lawyers have requested his release.
Angeli puts his actions into perspective in an interview, but continues to support ex-President Trump.
In an interview with the US broadcaster CBS from prison, the Trump supporter commented on the allegations against him for the first time. Angeli, whose real name is Jacob Chansley, was arrested on January 9th and has been in custody ever since.
“I even prevented some from stealing muffins”
The 33-year-old man from the US state of Arizona stated in an interview that he only sang songs. This is part of shamanism. He wanted to spread “positive vibrations” in the US Parliament and bring the “divine” back into the building. Angeli also claims that he prevented others from stealing and vandalism. “I even stopped some from stealing muffins. I love my country.”
He regrets that he and others broke into the Capitol on January 6, but he and his colleagues wrongly understood the security officers to mean that they had “waved” the protesters into parliament. Like many who stormed the Capitol on January 6th, Angeli is a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory.
When asked whether he still supports the ex-president, Angeli replied without hesitation with “Yes”. He found President Trump sympathetic from the start because he had been crushed by the media and the establishment: something that he had also experienced in his own life. He was only disappointed that Trump had not pardoned him and his colleagues.
A few weeks ago, Angeli caused a sensation from prison when he went on a hunger strike because the prison did not provide him with organic food. In the new recordings, the QAnon shaman now also looks significantly thinner.
