It’s a tricky situation. Aline Danioth doesn’t hurt. Nevertheless, the doctors advise her to go under the knife again. That’s exactly what the talented skier does now.
“I’ve ridden with a torn cruciate ligament for the past few weeks and it worked really well. But I realized that I still want to ski for a long time and that in the long term it is better to repair the cruciate ligament, ”she says.
“It is not easy”
Danioth will soon be operated on on her right knee – for the second time within a few months and only a few weeks after her 23rd birthday. During the first operation in the fall, the doctors first had to fill the bone holes in an old injury.
Now the bones of the Uri from Andermatt are so stable that the next operation is possible. “It’s not easy to have another operation. But I’ll fight to get back quickly, ”said Danioth.
Six months without skis
One thing is certain, however: the slalom specialist will be absent for around six months before she can get back on skis. That means that she missed the whole summer training. Not ideal conditions for the next winter for the athlete, who has been plagued by injuries for years.
Most recently, Danioth drove the first slalom run at the World Cup final as an ancestor. «Aline can do anything and is not in pain. She therefore believes that it could work without further surgery, ”said Swiss technology head coach Alois Prenn immediately afterwards.
Now, after consulting the medical specialists, Danioth has come to a different decision. She has her knee patched entirely. She is taking a different path than, for example, Carlo Janka (34) and Joana Hählen (29), who have been in the World Cup for years with a torn cruciate ligament.
