Strength athlete tears the pectoral muscle on the 220 kilo bench press
Ryan Crowley is a mountain of a man. The bodybuilder lifts 220 kilos in the bench press. But then the Briton suffers severe pain and his chest muscle tears. Pictures give an idea of how severe the injury is.
Ryan Crowley gave it his all and tried to lift the dumbbell again. On the sides of the pole, discs weighing 220 kilograms were attached. The Brit took a deep breath before attempting to bench press the immense weight.
But then the moment of shock: the bodybuilder could no longer hold the weight, he screamed and fell off the bench. Fortunately, his training partner Larry Wheels was there to hold the dumbbell and prevent it from falling on Crowley’s upper body.
The 23-year-old rolled in pain on the floor of the gym in Dubai. He did this for understandable reasons: Crowley tore his large pectoral muscle while benching. “I can’t believe what happened. My chest muscle has completely separated from the bone, “wrote Crowley on his Instagram account.
He was immediately transported to a clinic and has since been operated on. The operation was scheduled for only an hour but took four hours due to the severity of the injury. “The doctor had to completely restore my chest because the tendon came off the bone and the muscle came off the tendon. He had some difficulty reattaching the string. I also had a minor tear in my biceps, ”said Crowley.

After the surgery, Crowley posted pictures showing the extent of the injury. The entire chest was bloodshot and covered with a huge hematoma. “I pray it won’t ruin my career before it even starts,” said Crowley.
According to the Briton, he was only able to pay the costs for the procedure and the hospital stay because fans donated for it. Crowley has meanwhile left the clinic, but his ordeal is not over yet: “I still have a lot of pain, my whole body is swollen from my toes to my hands, my stomach is extremely bloated.”
