Brandenburg’s state government announces a possible, hard curfew over the holidays. It is likely that the ban will come. The incidence value in the country is 130.

Brandenburg is facing a tightening of the corona rules in the private sphere. During the Easter period from April 1 to 6, there should be an exit restriction from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. with a 7-day incidence of 100 on three days in a row, said the State Chancellery in Potsdam. Exceptions for a valid reason are possible. The cabinet agreed on this on Friday, but the decision should not be made until Tuesday.

If the incidence is significantly above 100 for a long time, districts and urban districts should take further steps. Relaxation for culture and tourism should be possible regionally from mid-April through model projects. An app for tracking contacts is planned.

It is likely that the curfew will become necessary according to the rules mentioned by Woidke. As of Friday, according to the Robert Koch Institute, Brandenburg had a seven-day incidence of 130. Curfews are a highly controversial instrument in combating the pandemic. Read the arguments for and against exit restrictions here.

Ministry of Health keeps more beds free

The Brandenburg Ministry of Health is now keeping more beds free again in view of the increasing number of corona infections in the state’s hospitals. As of Monday, at least 20 percent of the actual beds must be kept in normal wards and 30 percent of the intensive care beds with ventilation options, as the ministry announced on Friday. The regulation had been temporarily suspended since February 12.

“We are in the third wave,” said Health Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens). One must also prepare for a noticeable increase in the number of patients who have to be treated as inpatients. The coming weeks will again be extremely challenging and stressful for all employees in hospitals and in the medical field.

All hospitals in the country are required to admit and treat Covid-19 patients. Bed capacities must be available for this. Plannable recordings, operations and interventions may then be carried out if the capacities are met.

Currently, 412 patients are being treated in hospital in the country for Covid-19 disease – two weeks ago there were 312. Of these, 110 are currently receiving intensive care, 86 need ventilation.
