Casino boss Glatz-Kremsner does not extend the contract

Glatz-Kremsner has been with the casinos for 30 years and has been a member of the board since 2010. From July 2017 to the end of April 2019, she was Vice Party Leader of the ÖVP. On May 1, 2019, she took up her position as CEO of the casinos. When she switched from CFO to CEO, she received around EUR 1.7 million in severance payments. Her CEO contract runs until April 2022.

Economically, the corona crisis hit Casinos Austria hard. Glatz-Kremsner ordered a strict austerity course, reduced costs and cut 500 jobs. Who could follow her is still open. The state holding company ÖBAG has the right to nominate.

“The past financial year was the most challenging in the entire history of the company,” said General Director Glatz-Kremsner. Despite the difficult framework conditions, a large-scale restructuring program has laid the foundation for a positive future for the group, and everyone has pulled together. “I would like to thank you very much for this and I am very proud that we succeeded in doing this together.”

In 2020, the Czech Sazka Group took over the majority of the state-owned gaming company. For Sazka, the former Erste Banker Martin Škopek, who comes from the Czech Republic, sits on the casino’s board of directors.

Glatz Kremsner has been managing director of the casinos for less than two years. The renovation of the executive suite in March 2019 made her the new boss and Peter Sidlo the CFO. The former FPÖ politician Sidlo was recalled after only seven months – on suspicion of cheating and buying the law. The affair also left its mark on Glatz-Kremsner.
