Late on Friday evening, there were two shootings in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Two people were killed, one of whom was killed by police bullets. Apparently, gunshots first rang out around half past eleven at night near the intersection of 20th Street and Atlantic Avenue, which injured eight people. Some of them suffered life-threatening injuries, according to a police report.
When the officers at the scene clarified the situation, another shooting was reported just one block away. According to Police Chief Paul Neudigate, the police met a suspect there. During the confrontation with the police, one of them shot the man.
According to Neudigate, there was another fatality in a third incident. However, Neudigate did not believe that this shooting had anything to do with the first two. In the course of the events, a police officer was also hit by a car and slightly injured. “As you can see, we had a very chaotic night with chaotic events,” said the chief of police, according to CNN, in a press briefing after the shootings. Investigators are currently trying to clarify the background to the offenses.
As recently as Monday, ten people were killed in a gun attack in a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. A police officer was also among the fatalities.
