Cologne – Around 200 right-wing demonstrators played a game of cat and mouse with the police in Cologne on Saturday afternoon.

On the Internet, rights and corona deniers had agreed to an unannounced demo in front of the cathedral, actually wanted to move to Neumarkt via Hohe Straße and Schildergasse.

But the police put an end to the hustle and bustle. At 1:49 p.m., she declared the event to be over because of “massive violations of the Corona Protection Ordinance”. Participants had not worn masks and kept no distances.

Anyone who did not leave the square was surrounded for a short time. At 2:15 p.m., the first counter-demonstrators marched up and shouted “Nazis out”. At 2.30 p.m. the police began taking personal details. One man was taken into custody.

Tumultuous scenes in the afternoon on Rudolfplatz. 70 to 80 corona deniers had gathered there for a demo. About 150 counter-demonstrators turned up and opposed them. When the police checked a mask refuser, corona deniers showed solidarity with him and threw cans and bottles at the officers. The man without a mask and two other people were taken into custody.

In Kalk, bicycle demonstrators ended the corona deniers’ motorcade, who drove along Kalker Hauptstrasse in 33 vehicles. They established the parade at the height of the lime arcades. The police ended the blockade, recorded the blockers’ personal details by early evening and wrote reports.

Even in the evening, the police remained on site with numerous forces.
