Nine cordless lawnmowers and six electric lawnmowers, all without wheel drive, were tested. Among other things, the mowing performance, handling and durability were evaluated.
The test result: Cordless lawnmowers win
The cordless lawnmowers were particularly impressive in the test. Stiftung Warentest named the mower the test winner GE-CM 36/36 Li from Einhell with the overall grade “good (2.0)”. It mows well and is easy to use. Also recommended are the lawn mowers from Alpina and Makita, both of which received the overall grade “good (2.4)”.

At 22 kilograms, however, the model is significantly heavier than the test winner, for example.
The fast charger: Makita cordless lawn mower

Interesting facts about lawn mowers
What is a rotary mower?
Sickle mowers are lawn mowers that have a horizontally mounted sickle knife with a curved blade that starts to rotate at high speed and thus cuts the lawn. So-called cylinder mowers are a good alternative for small gardens. The blades of these mowers are on a horizontal roller.
When should the blades on the lawn mower be changed?
Blunt lawnmower blades should definitely be changed, otherwise the blades of grass will be torn off and not cut cleanly. Depending on the period of use and frequency, changing the knives can be different. It is advisable to change the knives before the first cut in spring.
When can the lawn be mowed after winter?
After winter, the lawn should only be mowed when there is no longer any frost on the lawn and the temperatures are permanently above 0 degrees Celsius. Depending on the weather, the first lawn cut of the year should be made in April at the latest. When mowing for the first time, the lawn should not be cut short immediately. Otherwise the blades of grass cannot recover sufficiently. Set the cutting height of the lawnmower higher accordingly.
What are the benefits of a mulching function on a lawn mower?
In principle, the lawn can be mulched with any lawn mower. However, since the lawn cut is usually too coarse, lawn mowers should be equipped with a mulching function if you want to mulch the lawn. This means that the clippings are not caught in the grass catcher, but are chopped up and thrown back onto the sward. In this way, the nutrients contained in the grass are returned to the lawn.
