Dresden – The weekly value for new corona infections in Saxony continues to rise. On Saturday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Berlin stated the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days as 176.4. A week ago it was 145.2. The nationwide value was 124.9 on Saturday.

The Vogtland is still most affected in Saxony. Here the seven-day incidence decreased slightly to 406.2 on Saturday. The day before it was 419.5. Another four regions have values ​​of more than 200: District of Zwickau (269.8), Erzgebirgskreis (239.1), City of Chemnitz (238.3) and the district of North Saxony (207.3). Only the city of Leipzig is below the 100 mark with 77.9.

According to the RKI, there were 1484 proven cases of infection in Saxony from Friday to Saturday. In addition, a further 20 fatalities were registered, bringing their number to a total of 8,323. In total, more than 216,000 people in the Free State have been infected with the virus since the beginning of the corona pandemic a year ago.
