The football season in Lower Saxony is about to be canceled

The football season in Lower Saxony is about to be canceled due to the corona pandemic. Because team training and competitive matches cannot be resumed in time due to the restrictions, it is currently becoming apparent that the sporting continuation and end of the season can no longer be assumed until July 21, the Lower Saxony Football Association announced on Tuesday evening. Therefore, the board wants to take an alternative and final decision on how to deal with the 2020/2021 game year in the course of a regular association board meeting in the coming week to further plan security for clubs and associations, the message said. The preferred variant is therefore the termination in the form of cancellation – “taking into account the interface solutions between the Lower Saxony Football Association and the league and cup competitions of higher-level associations”.

HH: Citizenship debates about corona measures in schools

At the request of the CDU, the Hamburg citizenship is debating today (from 1.30 p.m.) about the anti-corona measures in Hamburg’s schools such as tests, air filters and digitization. “Schoolchildren, teachers and parents must not become victims of failed corona policies,” says the largest opposition faction. In addition, the MPs will deal with the latest corona containment ordinances of the red-green Senate in short debates.

Schleswig-Holstein: Incidence falls for the first time in two weeks

In Schleswig-Holstein, 253 new infections with the corona virus were reported within one day. On Wednesday a week ago there were 332 confirmed new corona cases. The seven-day incidence has fallen from 60.2 to 58.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week since yesterday. It is the first time since March 9 that this value, which is used to combat pandemics, has fallen again in Schleswig-Holstein.

Openings: After Easter, model projects start in three northern countries

Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have announced model projects with regional easing after Easter. In Lower Saxony, according to Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD), people who previously tested negative for the corona virus should be able to go shopping in shops, sit in outdoor restaurants and attend cultural events. The State Health Office decides which municipalities take part in the project. In Schleswig-Holstein, outdoor catering in the regions with a stable seven-day incidence of less than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants should be possible, said Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU). The state capital Kiel is also planning further openings with model character. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) also announced model projects for the period after Easter, where the focus will be on the tourism industry.

Is the incidence value sufficient to assess the pandemic?

The seven-day incidence is used to a large extent to assess the corona situation. The informative value of the value is, however, controversial.

Schleswig-Holstein: State Parliament debates tourism

The state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein is today dealing with the results of the federal-state summit and their implementation at state level. Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) has already announced that Schleswig-Holstein will not go it alone, but will implement the resolutions. After Easter, Schleswig-Holstein wants to enable regional openings, for example in outdoor catering, with model projects. Today, tourism will also be a topic again in the state parliament. Günther had unsuccessfully campaigned for an opening in his own federal state at the federal-state summit.
