In Vienna, people over the age of 75 were called on to book an appointment for a corona vaccination on Saturday. Residents who were registered with the vaccination service received a newsletter and SMS information that they can register for immunization with immediate effect. In addition, all previously self-registered high-risk patients between 60 and 74 years of age were informed that they can book a vaccination appointment from next Wednesday. A total of 77,500 appointments will be available from April.
57,500 doses of vaccine were made available for people aged 75 and over (born in 1946 and older), the office of City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) told the APA. 20,000 vaccination appointments are reserved for high-risk patients born between 1947 and 1961. “People who fall into this age category but are not high-risk patients are excluded from this vaccination campaign,” the newsletter emphasized.
Book an appointment online or by phone
You can book an appointment online via impfservice.wien or by calling 1450. You have to log in online with your email address and password. For those born in 1946 (or earlier), the “Senior Citizens Action 75+” vaccination campaign is available even without previous illnesses or high risk. The other people contacted select the “high-risk group 60 to 74 years”, the city informed those affected in detail. High-risk patients should take appropriate medical confirmations or certificates with them to the vaccination appointment. Registration is only fully completed when both vaccination dates – for the first and second partial vaccination – have been booked.
The booking can also be made for another person who meets the respective criteria. “Inquire actively with your relatives, friends or neighbors whether they are informed about this vaccination campaign,” says the newsletter. People from the groups of people mentioned should only not book an appointment if they have already received an up-to-date vaccination appointment or a vaccination and if they have been sick with Covid-19 in the past six to eight months.
