LINZ / GMUNDEN. The OÖ Theater und Orchester GmbH (TOG) has concluded a three-year cultural cooperation with ORF III – every year at least two highlights from Linz are shown on television. The prelude will be “Der böse Geist Lumpazivagabundus” and a live open air with the Bruckner Orchestra from Gmunden.
On Thursday, March 25, 2021, the three-year cultural cooperation was sealed in Linz, which guarantees TV audiences at least two stage highlights per year from Upper Austria. The framework contract was signed in the music theater. “Upper Austria is known far beyond its borders as a strong cultural land. With this cooperation, we can make our artistic stages even more visible and present our unique cultural offer to an even wider audience, ”says Governor Thomas Stelzer happily.
In addition to Stelzer at the signing: ORF General Director Alexander Wrabetz, ORF III Program Manager Peter Schöber, State Theater Director Hermann Schneider, TOG Managing Director Thomas Königstorfer and Markus Poschner, Chief Conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
“The offer ranges from music theater to spoken theater to open-air live concerts with the renowned Bruckner Orchestra Linz. I am particularly pleased that the ORF is available as a media stage for domestic culture in the ongoing Corona crisis and that it can repeatedly bring artists and their audiences together successfully, ”said ORF General Director Wrabetz.
Hermann Schneider, Artistic Director of the Landestheater Linz: “The Landestheater Linz has now developed a very independent artistic profile in all branches: in addition to the canon, there are premieres and special features of the repertoire in extraordinary productions that are also perceived nationwide. The fact that this perception can now also be accompanied and expanded in the media through the cooperation with the ORF testifies to the quality and program of both institutions – a classic ‘win / win situation’. “
First appearance on April 30th
The first production will go on air on April 30th at 10:35 pm on ORF III: the premiere of Georg Schmiedleitner’s Nestroy production “Der böse Geist Lumpazivagabundus” from the Linz theater. The broadcast is part of the Romy-nominated ORF III series “We play for Austria”. Among other things, Theresa Palfi is on stage: “For me as an actress, the current situation means that I have not been able to express myself artistically or come into contact with the audience for five months. A recording cannot replace this experience, but I am looking forward to playing theater again, knowing that in the end it will be seen and not faded away in empty space. ”Also to be seen: Julian Sigl, Jan Nikolaus Cerha and Daniel Klausner.
Big open air concert from Gmunden
On Sunday, July 4th, at 8:15 pm, “Erlebnis Bühne live” invites you to join the Bruckner Orchester Linz in an open-air concert in Gmundner Toscanapark: under the direction of Markus Poschner, the musicians will perform together with classical stars such as Rolando Villazón and Regula Mühlemann songs, arias and orchestral music from the pen of Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Anton Bruckner, Karl Goldmark, Erich Wolfgang Korngold or Franz Lehár for the best.
TOG Managing Director Thomas Königstorfer: “It’s nice that both the Bruckner Orchestra and the State Theater are covered by the collaboration with ORF and will benefit from it. The three-year term enables us to plan artistic TV highlights in our divisions and our Bruckner Orchestra in a more targeted manner. This year’s live broadcast from Gmunden should also be a signal of how valuable the cooperation with the European Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024 and all partners of this Capital of Culture year is to us. “
Partners in the open air concert are also the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks in Gmunden, as part of which the concert takes place. “The cooperation brings our beautiful city to thousands of screens in German-speaking countries. My joy about it is limitless ”, says Johanna Mitterbauer, commercial director of the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks Gmunden.
