DFB Cup quarter-finals – and on Tuesday evening (March 2nd) there was an explosive duel between Borussia Mönchengladbach and the black and yellow Borussia from Dortmund (0: 1). ARD once again relied on presenter Alexander Bommes (45) and expert Bastian Schweinsteiger (36) for its live broadcast. But with the performance of the ex-Bayern star, many viewers were apparently not at all satisfied.

Schweinsteiger’s appearance was the subject of many posts on social networks. The 2014 world champion captain was approached mainly for a faux pas.
DFB Cup on ARD: Bastian Schweinsteiger reaps criticism
What happened? After a confused and unpredictable first 45 minutes, Schweinsteiger analyzed some game scenes from the first round during the half-time break. He spoke several times of the “Borussia Dortmund right-back”. Apparently the ARD expert did not have the player’s name ready – at least this was the conviction of numerous fans.
“Dear Mr. Schweinsteiger,” writes a user on Twitter. “The BVB’s right defender is called Mateu Morey.” What Schweinsteiger would be credited with: The young Spaniard (21) has been playing in Dortmund since the summer of 2019, but only came into focus in the most recent games with strong performances. Maybe the ex-professional was just not quite familiar with the name. Or else: he knew it, but did not name it.
Nevertheless, some fans complained: Schweinsteiger gave the impression of not being well enough prepared. “Funny, Schweinsteiger doesn’t know that Morey’s name is Morey – and that’s what they call experts,” was another Twitter comment. “Worst expert of all time,” pimped another user.
The fans also made fun of another saying by the ex-Munich resident. Because: About the already fixed departure of the Gladbach coach Marco Rose (44) to BVB after the end of the season, Schweinsteiger said: “Max Eberl definitely has a plan B up his sleeve.” Sure: “Bag” would have been the right word. One fan commented smugly on Twitter: “I don’t want to know more.” (Kos)
