A 36-year-old was arrested after a knife attack on a car driver in Inzersdorf in the Kremstal (Upper Austria). According to the police, the man from the Kirchdorf district stood in the middle of the street on Friday afternoon and forced the 60-year-old driver of a company car to stop. He then attacked the Upper Austrian through the open side window with two knives without warning.

Local residents were made aware of the incident on Koglerberg by constantly honking their horns and came to the injured’s aid, the state police department of Upper Austria informed in a broadcast on Saturday. The 36-year-old first fled in a car in the direction of Pettenbach.

Knife stabber arrested in Steyr

After a major manhunt was initiated immediately, the 36-year-old was arrested at 0.45 a.m. in Steyr. He is said to have defended himself and injured a police officer. The suspect was taken to the Steyr police detention center. The police were able to seize the two criminal records. “It’s a jackknife,” said a police spokesman when asked by the APA. The man attacked the driver without a word. The motive was initially unclear.
