The Italian Francesco Bagnaia has secured pole position for the first MotoGP race of the new season on Sunday (7:00 p.m. CEST) in Qatar. The Ducati rider was fastest in his first best time in a qualifying with a new lap record on the Losail Circuit on Saturday in front of the Yamaha trio Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi.
In Moto3, the Austrian Maximilian Kofler will start the race from 16 on the grid. At the beginning of his second full World Cup season, the 20-year-old will start as far ahead as never before. “The starting position is good, but it will definitely be a tough fight to keep up with the leading group,” explained Kofler.
