As of March 30, 2021, customers will again be able to use Ionity’s charging points with their EnBW mobility + app or charging card, the energy company announced. This fulfills the desire of many e-car drivers for even more charging options. “They now have an even greater choice when it comes to fast charging in the EnBW HyperNetz, which is the largest network for electromobility in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with over 150,000 charging points and also offers nationwide charging options in France, Italy and the Netherlands “Says the company.
A separate price of EUR 0.79 per kilowatt hour (kWh) applies to the use of the Ionity charging points – regardless of the EnBW mobility + tariff selected. The Ionity charging points are marked accordingly in the EnBW mobility + app for cost transparency. In the standard tariff, EnBW mobility + can charge 39 cents per kWh via AC, DC fast charging costs 49 cents per kWh, and there is no basic charge. In the multi-charger tariff, AC electricity costs 29 cents per kWh and DC electricity 39 cents per kWh, plus a monthly basic fee of 4.99 euros. All private EnBW electricity and gas customers can obtain energy without a basic fee at the conditions of the multi-charger tariff.
Ionity was founded by Volkswagen, BMW, Daimler and Ford. At the beginning of 2020, the company significantly increased the prices of its fast chargers: since then, anyone who does not have a contract has been paying 79 cents per kWh instead of a flat rate of eight euros at the pillars along European highways. Shortly after its introduction, EnBW criticized the new price model as “not targeting” for electromobility and ended the collaboration. But now it has been decided to cooperate with Ionity again.
EnBW intends to further expand its own nationwide fast charging infrastructure: According to company information, the network is to be expanded to 2500 by 2025, according to currently more than 500 locations.
