The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was anything but smooth, at least on the consoles. That is why the role-playing game was also thrown out of the Playstation Store a short time later, and to this day there is no reliable information about which party was in charge of this decision. And to this day, a comeback of the title in the PSN store is not in sight.
Which side pulled the plug?
Because shortly after its release, Cyberpunk flew in 2077from the Playstation Store – the digital version of the RPG heavyweight could no longer be purchased. Sony even offered angry buyers refunds and presented itself as the initiator. The company announced: “[Sony Interactive Entertainment] So will be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice. “But a little later, CD Projekt Red wanted to clarify the matter and said in a statement that the removal from the PSN Store was the result of a discussion with Sony about refunds, so you definitely was involved in the decision.
Which side actually took the lead remains unclear to this day. On the occasion of the 100th day since the removal, IGN is still trying to find an explanation. Mainly because the game has not yet made a comeback in the store. But so far neither Sony nor CD Projekt Red have given an answer to the question of whether and when a return can be expected. Nevertheless, one makes a few considerations and suspects that patch 1.2, which is supposed to address many building sites in the game, could be a prerequisite for a return to the PSN store – and it was postponed after a cyber attack, as is well known.
However, one can also imagine that the decision lies with Sony, and the company insists on waiting for the next-gen upgrade for the PS5, which is expected in the second half of the year. The bottom line, however, is how strange it is that both parties are simply silent about such a big title.
