On Wednesday, Facebook had to defend itself again at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court against the efforts of the German Federal Cartel Office to restrict the group’s data collection outside of its own network. At the beginning of 2019, the authority temporarily banned this practice because it saw unfair competition in it. In the same year, however, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court reported doubts about the arguments put forward by the competition authorities and suspended enforcement. The Federal Court of Justice overturned this decision in the middle of last year. Negotiations are now under way.
