Germanotta showed great interest in music from childhood. She took piano lessons for the first time when she was four and was accepted at the prestigious Juilliard School in Manhattan when she was eleven, but decided to stay at her Catholic school. The singer wrote her first piano ballad at the age of 13, and a year later she performed for the first time in a New York nightclub.

When Lady Gaga was 17 years old, she was accepted as one of only 20 students worldwide at the Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied music and learned to write songs. But Lady Gaga could not develop creatively at the school and left it without a degree. To finance her life, she took a job as a go-go dancer, among other things.

In 2007 Lady Gaga began working as a songwriter for artists such as Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls. During a burlesque show she created, the R&B singer Akon discovered the 20-year-old and took her on to his label. Over the next few months, the album “The Fame” was created, with which the singer achieved her breakthrough in 2008.

Her debut single “Just Dance” was nominated for a Grammy that same year and landed at number one on the US charts. Their second single “Poker Face” became even more successful in the same year and was at the top of the international charts for weeks.

In addition to her musical talent, Lady Gaga drew attention to herself right from the start of her career with striking, eccentric outfits – for example with this one-piece studded with rivets that sparkled.

Her early outfits were modeled on artists such as David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust era and Freddie Mercury, whose song “Radio Ga Ga” also inspired her artist name.

With the release of two more singles from her debut album – “LoveGame” and “Paparazzi” – Lady Gaga set a record: never before had an artist made it to the top of the charts with four singles from a debut album.

Her most shocking outfit: At the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga surprised viewers with a dress made of raw meat. “Time” magazine named it in its top ten list of the biggest fashion statements of the year.

In 2010 Lady Gaga was nominated for five Grammys, including “Album of the Year” for “The Fame” and “Song of the Year” for “Poker Face”, two of which she took home. In a duet with music legend Elton John, she was even allowed to open the award show.

At the Grammys 2011 she went one better: On the one hand with six nominations for her second album “The Fame Monster” and the single “Bad Romance” and three awards, but also with her performance. The singer hatched from an oversized egg on stage, in which she was also carried across the red carpet.

For her third album “Born This Way” (2011) the singer took inspiration from earlier music decades, especially from Madonna, with whom she was often compared. The single “Born This Way” became the anthem of the LGBTQ community, similar to the 1989 hit “Express Yourself” by Madonna.

Always crazy outfits: On New Year’s Eve 2012, Lady Gaga performed in Time’s Square in New York, wearing a black Versace bodysuit with sequins and a cage around her body.

In 2013 the singer released the album “Artpop”, which was less successful than her previous records. She performed the only successful single “Applause” at the MTV Video Music Awards in a colorful show, including in this outfit with a shell bra and tight panties.

“Cheek to Cheek” followed in 2014, their fourth studio album. At the side of jazz singer Tony Bennett, the singer showed a completely different side of herself for the first time. At the Grammys, the album was awarded in the category “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album”.

In 2015 Lady Gaga was seen for the first time as an actress: In the fifth season of the series “American Horrorstory” she played one of the leading roles and was awarded a Golden Globe for it.

Oscar look: In February 2015, Lady Gaga was given the honor of appearing at the Academy Awards. She walked the red carpet in a classic white evening dress, but with a Lady Gaga twist: she wore flashy red gloves.

The following year she was nominated for the coveted golden boy for the first time: her song “Til It Happens to You” was available for selection in the “Best Film Song” category. Unforgettable her performance with a group of survivors of sexual abuse.

At the 2016 Grammys ceremony, Lady Gaga paid tribute to the recently deceased David Bowie, whom she cites as a great inspiration, with her outfit and a performance on stage.
