The guitarist of the Cologne band “5 vor 12” is dead. The 45-year-old Guido Mauss died on Friday of complications from blood cancer. The emotional farewell to his bandmates touched the fans.
The Cologne musician and guitarist of the band “5 to 12”, Guido Mauss, has passed away. He was discovered to have leukemia in 2019. As the “Express” reports, he was much better after a stem cell donation last spring. But the cancer came back. After another stem cell treatment, “Haetty” developed pneumonia. Now the 45-year-old died this week.
On the Facebook page of “5 to 12” fans said goodbye. “He was one of the most musical people I have ever met,” wrote his band colleague Sven Cassebaum in a post on the band’s website. “A very special bird. Unpredictable, incredibly funny and behind its sometimes rough facade, a soft soul.”
“That feels terribly wrong,” continued Cassebaum. “Just the thought that he walked through a door into a new room, as we all will one day, gives some comfort.” The fans are touched: “I’m still shocked by this news,” commented one user. “I can’t believe it,” wrote another user.
The Kölsch band “Hanak”, for which Mauss was active, also expressed their grief: “We would like to say thank you for the beautiful and funny moments, for the lifetime and musical creativity you gave us and on 2 albums (Bess zem Morje and Bäääm) also left behind. ”
