Erfurt (dpa / th) – The Saale-Orla district has replaced the Greiz district as the number one corona hotspot among the districts nationwide. The seven-day value for new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the Saale-Orla district on Saturday (as of midnight) was around 514, as can be seen from an overview by the Robert Koch Institute. In the Greiz district, the so-called incidence fell to 421, making it fourth, like the Wartburg district (3rd), one of the districts in Germany most severely affected by the pandemic.
Throughout Thuringia, the incidence fell slightly from Friday to Saturday to just under 218, which is almost twice as high as the national average (around 125). According to the State Chancellery, 758 new cases were reported during this period. The number of new infections since the beginning of the pandemic has increased to around 91,400. In Thuringia, 3,281 people infected with the coronavirus have died so far, around 79,700 are considered to have recovered.
