When Henrik Kristoffersen entered the finish slope at the Ski World Cup in Lenzerheide, 1.72 seconds behind, his frustration was unmistakable. “These skis are so bad,” you can hear him say as you loosen the bindings. It is not the first time that the slalom specialist is dissatisfied with his material. Throughout the season he struggled with his Rossignol skis, especially on icy slopes, and also liked to vent his displeasure in interviews.
Now Rossignol boss Stephane Mougin has had enough. “Even if it was not the intention that this comment lands in the media, I can not accept something like that,” he told the Norwegian broadcaster NRK. The 26-year-old’s father was spoken to and he was given to understand that Kristoffersen Junior had to stop publicly criticizing the equipment. “Such things should be clarified internally and with the right people and not through the media.”
«We would have expected more from Henrik»
Mougin does not deny that there are problems with the material: “It is obvious that something does not fit Henrik the way it should,” he admits. However, it is not down to the skis alone. “We have proven with other skiers that the skis work,” asserts the Rossignol boss. If you rely on the numbers, the equipment of the French equipment supplier does not do well this season: In the giant slalom, Rossignol athletes scored 900 points less than last year.
After the power word, Mougin made Kristoffersen responsible: “We expected more from Henrik. We will now give him some new prototypes for the next season. At the same time, he has to make sure that he is preparing as well as possible for the Olympic winter ». (Tim)
