The Chinese special administrative regions Hong Kong and Macau temporarily suspended the corona vaccinations with the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer on Wednesday. The reason given by the authorities was a packaging error in a batch of the vaccine.
“As a precaution, the ongoing vaccination must be suspended during the investigation period,” said the Hong Kong government in a statement.
The authorities in Hong Kong and Macau said they did not assume any security risks. Nevertheless, the decision to temporarily stop was made after they were made aware of the problem by Chinese pharmaceutical giant Fosun.
