BAM Swiss, which specializes in construction projects in the healthcare sector, is now part of the Dutch Royal BAM Group. With the takeover, 45 employees will switch to Implenia. No information was given on the purchase price.
With the takeover, Implenia will become a leading construction service provider in the healthcare sector and strengthen its market presence in Switzerland, according to an Implenia announcement on Tuesday. At the same time, the construction group is expanding its presence in the growth region of north-west Switzerland, especially in and around the city of Basel.
Implenia takes on ongoing projects
The purchase is expected to close on May 31st. Implenia is thus assuming responsibility for ongoing projects. Implenia will ensure the timely planning and implementation of the Aarau Cantonal Hospital from a single source – a project that had previously been carried out together with BAM Swiss and BAM Germany.
In addition, Implenia’s project portfolio will be expanded to include the BSSE project in Basel, a modern laboratory and research building for biosystems science and engineering, as well as the Felix Platter Spital project in Basel and an ETH student dormitory in Zurich.
BAM Group focuses on other markets
According to the statements in the announcement, the Royal BAM Group intends to concentrate on the growth markets in the Netherlands, Great Britain and Ireland with the sale of the Swiss business. The group has a size and competitive advantage there.
