Inter Milan is unstoppable in the Italian soccer championship. Coach Antonio Conte’s side continued their winning streak against Atalanta Bergamo on Monday, taking three points with a narrow 1-0 home win for the seventh time in a row. This means that the championship leaders have six points ahead of their pursuers and local rivals AC Milan, even after 26 games. Third Juventus Turin is less than ten points short of first place in a game.
The fact that the Milanese remained on course for the 19th championship title, the first since 2010, was due to Milan Skriniar, who in the 54th minute after a corner kick and unsuccessful attempts to clear the Champions League round of 16 from eleven meters exactly into the corner met. Bergamo’s efforts to level the game went unrewarded, losing another game after four wins. Atalanta is 13 points behind Inter only in fifth place and therefore suffered a setback in the battle for the CL starting positions.
