All Prime Ministers are invited to the Corona Blitz Summit! Time: 11 a.m.!
What exactly should be discussed is still open. Possibly, however, it will be about details of the new day off rule at Easter.
The prime ministers were apparently surprised by the invitation. Some have already announced that they will not be available for the date.
As BILD learned, Lower Saxony Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) is prevented from attending. Rainer Haseloff, Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt announced that he would of course want to take part. Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced that he would postpone his planned government statement.
Merkel herself is supposed to answer questions from MPs in the Bundestag at 1 p.m. – the date has been set so far.
Is Merkel reacting to the disastrous echo of the summit resolutions?
The only way to explain the lightning summit is that the Chancellor is reacting to the “catastrophic echo we caused on Tuesday night”. BILD learned from insider circles. “You have to imagine: not even the Federal Minister of the Interior was involved in the plans of the Chancellery!” The Chancellor apparently wanted to fix that in retrospect with the states.
According to BILD information, the SPD-led countries want to prepare spontaneously for a quick advance notice for the MPK.
CDU boss Armin Laschet Laschet justified the special MPK in his ongoing speech to the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia with the “disappointment” about the results. “We can’t go on like this!”
In the morning, Scheuer warned of a supply shortage
According to BILD information, Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) had warned of a difficult situation over Easter in supermarkets and drugstores in the cabinet breakfast.
There could be bottlenecks and supply gaps because the logistics chains could not cope with the sudden run even with the additional days of rest.
