After five days of testing
The Italian Minister of Health Roberto Speranza wants to sign a corresponding ordinance on Wednesday, according to government circles on Tuesday. At first it was not known when the regulation would come into force.
Lockdown from April 3rd to 5th
In Italy there is a lockdown for the entire country for the Easter days from April 3rd to 5th. This also means that people cannot travel between regions, except in emergencies or because of work.
If you come from EU countries, including Austria, you have to undergo a test and a five-day quarantine when you return to Italy. Then you have to do another test.
The quarantine already applies to all non-EU countries
With the quarantine also when entering from EU countries, the Italian government wants to prevent many Italians from traveling abroad over the Easter holidays. From April 3rd to 6th, Italy will become the “Red Zone”, the Italians are not allowed to leave their community to visit relatives in other places or regions. However, they are allowed to travel abroad if they have tested negative for the coronavirus.
Outrage from the hotelier association
This sparked outrage in the Federalberghi hotelier association. “I can’t leave my community, but I can fly to the Canary Islands. This is absurd when you consider that 85 percent of Italian hotels are closed, ”said Federalberghi President Bernabo Bocca in an interview with the Milan daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.
Health Minister Speranza also signed a protocol on regions and vaccination pharmacies on Monday. In Italy, pharmacists are to become part of the vaccination campaign from the end of April and immunize people against Covid-19.
