David Beckham is still thinking of signing world stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Neymar for his MLS club Inter Miami. Last but not least, the former England international is relying on the city’s pulling power.
Discussions about the high-profile trio had “been there from the beginning,” said Beckham in an interview with ESPN. For the players, the question of whether they wanted to come to Miami after the end of their careers in Europe is “honestly not that difficult” to answer: the city attracts players “who were stars in Europe”.
Old companion takes on a coaching position
Beckham is a co-owner of Inter Miami. The club played their first MLS season last year. For this, Miami had signed Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, among others. Nevertheless, the team failed in the first playoff round.
For the upcoming season, which starts in mid-April, Beckham has already hired an old friend from ManUnited as a new coach, Phil Neville.
