Oberwiesenthal / Dresden (dpa / sn) – Saxony wants to enable local model projects to open hotels and restaurants in the pandemic regardless of the incidence. This is provided by the new Corona Protection Ordinance, which Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) presented on Tuesday in Dresden. At the same time, however, other requirements apply: The model projects are only possible if there are no more than 1,300 Covid-19 patients in the normal wards in the Saxon hospitals, emphasized Köpping. In addition, relevant tourism projects must be scientifically supported and be of importance for the entire country.
Cities and districts can approve such a model project, but must first coordinate with the Saxon data protection officer and the Ministry of Health and Tourism. For this purpose, a working group is to be set up to decide on the project, says Köpping. Twelve such model projects are currently in the works.
For example, the city of Augustusburg (Central Saxony district) wants to open hotels, restaurants and leisure facilities to visitors from Thursday. “We would like to start on April 1st,” emphasized Köpping. “When do we want to try it, if not now?” She considers a model opening in Augustusburg to be a “manageable size”, in Dresden, on the other hand, opening restaurants are rather difficult. On Tuesday afternoon, the district wanted to decide how to proceed with its model project.
The district office in the Ore Mountains had previously decided to keep hotels and restaurants on the Fichtelberg closed over Easter. The authority did not approve the start of the model project “Covid-Ex” planned for Thursday with reference to the current infection situation, said coordinator Erik Schulze on Tuesday upon request. The “Free Press” had previously reported on it.
There is no new date yet. “We are continuing to work on it and will continue to professionalize the whole thing,” emphasized Schulze. More than 60 companies in Oberwiesenthal wanted to take part in the opening. The prerequisite should be that all visitors and guests have themselves tested daily for a corona infection.
In Saxony, the infection rate has recently intensified significantly. On Tuesday, the Robert Koch Institute reported the weekly incidence of 193.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
