It is Friday evening when the 26-year-old Giuseppe Greco at the wheel of his Smart in Naples (I) is threatened with a gun by two men. Ciro Chirollo († 30) and Domenico Romano († 40) are the names of the two perpetrators who remove Greco’s Rolex during the robbery.
The robbers do not get far with the booty, however, because the robber does not want to let the incident stand on its own: With his car he follows the two men who speed away on their scooters. Between Villaricca and Marano, Greco rams the vehicles and brings down the two robbers. But that’s not all: the car also runs over the men who have fallen to the ground. After the 26-year-old hit a wall with his Smart, he fled – he left the lifeless bodies of Chirollo and Romano on the street.
The eyewitnesses who later pass the scene immediately alert the police and rescue workers. When they arrive, they see a picture of horror: the bloody corpses of the two previously convicted robbers lie between the rubble of the wrecked car, writes “Südtirol News”.
The police initially assume a puzzling accident in which Chirollo and Romano suffered numerous broken bones and serious injuries that led to their death. With the help of testimonies and recordings from a surveillance camera, however, show a different picture.
Avenger denies action
The search for the fugitive driver does not take long, because Greco reports to the police that same night – but not to surrender, but to report his Smart and Rolex as stolen.
However, the man who is now accused of intentional homicide rejects any allegations. The investigation is ongoing. Greco is still at large for the time being. (une)
