Israel’s prime minister’s Likud won the election. But it will be tight for a coalition to be formed.
Even in the fourth parliamentary election within two years in Israel there is no clear decision. The country is still deeply divided. Although the conservative Likud of incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won most of the seats, it seems unlikely that he will achieve a majority capable of governing with a bloc of religious and right-wing parties. The political deadlock that has held the country firmly in its grip for two years could continue – and the fifth election is coming up.
