Due to several clusters identified by the health department in the southern district, another voluntary and free PCR test campaign was offered in Berchtesgaden last Saturday. Of a total of 269 people tested, four were marked positive. “Experience has shown that chains of infection can only be effectively interrupted if appropriate measures are taken quickly. For this, it is necessary to get the best possible picture of the infection process, not least because of the more frequently detected virus mutations,” said District Administrator Bernhard Kern in quoted in a press release. Additional test offers are “a further component, especially if several clusters occur at the same time in a municipality”. He is pleased that the citizens have accepted this offer so well.
Since this week, with the additional rapid test options at pharmacies and other providers in the district, a nationwide test offer has been available for the population, said Kern. He thanks everyone who, with their prudent behavior, help to contain the infection rate. − red
