Oberstdorf – Thursday, March 4th, 2021, 2:42 p.m.

Norway’s cross-country skiers will take back the World Cup relay title in Oberstdorf on Thursday! Therese Johaug and Co. win over 4 x 5 kilometers, clearly ahead of the Russians. Bronze goes to Finland.

Two years ago in Seefeld, the Norwegians had to admit defeat to their arch-rival Sweden. The defending champions around Charlotte Kalla do not get past sixth this time.

Johaug, on the other hand, celebrates her third gold medal in Oberstdorf alongside Tiril Udnes Weng, Heidi Weng and youngster Helene Marie Fossesholm. In total she is now 13 times world champion. Another title could be added on Saturday over 30 km.

Austria was not represented in the relay due to a lack of enough athletes at the appropriate level. Two years after the Seefeld doping scandal, there will also be no ÖSV quartet in the men’s team competition on Friday.

The 50 km final on Sunday will also be staged without Austrian participation. In the women’s final on Saturday over 30 km, however, Teresa Stadlober has outsider chances for a medal.
