Germany-wide recall due to salmonella – these discounters are affected

The food discounter Netto informs about the public recall on its website. The frozen food was sold nationwide – at the following food retail chains:

  • Edeka (more information about Edeka at RUHR24.de)
  • Market purchase
  • Net
  • Aldi Nord (more information about Aldi on RUHR24.de)
  • Aldi south

The recall says that Salmonella was detected in the relevant product during controls. We therefore strongly advise against consuming the frozen product.

Recall due to salmonella: acute health hazard from frozen products

Salmonella can lead to flu-like symptoms such as fever, diarrhea or headaches. Small children and people with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk. Because salmonella is not only dangerous but also contagious, any suspicion of salmonella must be reported to the health department.

How Netdoctor explains, Salmonella can survive for several months in the freezer. The affected goods should therefore be disposed of or returned. Only recently there was a recall of sausages at Aldi because of salmonella.
