Carl Wilhelm Clasen GmbH announces that there may be bitter almonds in individual packs. The snack should therefore not be consumed.
Why shouldn’t the product be consumed?
Bitter almonds contain a lot of hydrogen cyanide and therefore also have a very bitter taste. Consuming bitter almonds in certain quantities can lead to headaches, nausea and vomiting. Life-threatening poisoning can also occur in children or sensitive people. For this it is enough to consume five almonds, explains the consumer advice center Bavaria.
What can customers do?
Consumers who have bought one of the recalled nut mixes, almond products or trail mixes can bring it back to the store. As a rule, the purchase price will then be reimbursed even without proof of purchase.
