Rewe and Penny recall snack tomatoes

The supermarket chains Rewe and Penny warn against the consumption of several products. The dried tomatoes from a Greek manufacturer could be contaminated with broken glass.

Because of the risk of broken glass, dried tomatoes are being recalled in Rewe and Penny supermarkets. Affected are the snack tomatoes with sea salt or herbs of the own brands “Rewe Beste Wahl” and “Orto Mio” – each in a 150-gram pack, as the Rewe Group announced on Tuesday.

The reason for the precautionary recall is the suspicion that individual packages may contain small, sharp, transparent glass foreign bodies. “These can lead to injuries,” it said.
