Ralph Weber was half a second slower than Yannick Chabloz in the downhill at the last interim time at the Swiss Championships in Zinal and was not on the podium. In the lower part of the not particularly demanding course, the Eastern Swiss turned up and relegated Chabloz to second place by 0.01 seconds.
Premiere for Weber
For Weber it is the first Swiss championship title. In 2015, the 27-year-old narrowly missed the title in Super-G as runner-up. In the World Cup, the junior world champion in the Super-G of 2012 did not really get going this season. His best result in the downhill was 16th in Val d’Isère.
With Beat Feuz, the best Swiss downhill skier had decided not to take part in the Swiss championships.
Durrer wins combination
In the combination of women, Delia Durrer from Nidwalden secured her first elite championship title. The 18-year-old, who made her World Cup debut on the downhill in Val di Fassa at the end of February, relegated Rahel Kopp to second place by 0.05 seconds. Janine Schmitt went third.
