Takaaki Nakagami (14th): “That was a black day” / MotoGP

Honda driver Takaaki Nakagami was not at all satisfied with the season opener in Qatar. The Japanese finished 14th on Friday and would not qualify for Q2. The problem is the front brake.

“I’m disappointed,” sighed Takaaki Nakagami. This is not how the Japanese had imagined the season opener. With his Honda from the Idemitsu LCR team, he landed in 14th place. This means that he is currently clearly outside the ranks that entitle him to directly participate in Q2.

But he could turn things around again in the third free practice session. “I’ll try,” says Nakagami fiercely. “It’s really important to qualify. But improving in FP3 is difficult. I’m not happy with the feeling I have with the front and we didn’t find a solution during the day. “

The reason for this is the brakes. “It was strange. At first the motorcycle was unstable when braking. I don’t know what happened later, but then it was the other way around. I had to pull the lever two or three times to get the brake on. This interrupted the rhythm. It was a black day, ”Nakagami noted.

Last year he was the fastest Honda driver with a machine from last year. This season he is equipped with the latest equipment from the factory. Although he was not able to implement his goals straight away, he is just a tenth short of his team-mate Alex Márquez.

With a view to Saturday, Nakagami also says: “The good thing about our problems is that we already know where we need to improve. We’ll try to be optimistic. A new day is coming and we will try to do better and get a good result. “
