Last year, the Nintendo Switch was able to sell about 1.5 million times in Great Britain. Compared to the PlayStation 5 (450,000), PlayStation 4 (450,000), Xbox Series X | S (310,000) and Xbox One (290,000) it is significantly more. That means every second console purchased in the UK in 2020 was a console from the Nintendo Switch family. The bottlenecks in the new generation of consoles certainly also play an important role in this lead.

In the UK, 71% of all retail games were purchased through mail order companies, only 16% were bought in a specialty store and 14% in a supermarket. This high rate can of course be explained by the current pandemic. Below you will find the charts of the year, which interestingly also shows the share of digital sales. Unfortunately, Nintendo games and a few others only count the sales of the commercial version, so that is the reason why these are far behind in the charts.

  1. FIFA 21 – 2,237,175 (digital share: 51.9%)
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – 1,528,985 (digital share: 69.1%)
