Last summer Stephan Lichtsteiner (37) announced his resignation after a successful football career at GC, Lille, Lazio, Juventus Turin, Arsenal and Augsburg. A few days ago there was news from the former full-back: He’s going to be a watchmaker, doing an internship at a Zurich brand.

“I would also like to gain experience in other areas that will help me later – especially in my coaching job. I like not having any pressure, »said Lichtsteiner.
Now Lucerne has another new experience: he becomes a member of the board of directors at HC Lugano, switching from football to ice hockey, as “Watson” reports.
Like Wawrinka, Streit or Josi
HC Lugano and Juventus Turin, Lichtsteiner’s club from 2011 to 2018, have the same colors (white and black) and HCL President Vicky Mantegazza is a big Juve fan. Lichtsteiner has already been a guest at the hockey «Bianconeri». And Mantegazza posted a picture with him and an HCL jersey on Facebook.
While HC Lugano has been waiting for a title since 2006, Lichtsteiner has been collecting trophies en masse. With Juventus he won the Scudetto seven times in a row.
The 108-time Swiss national player is not the first sports star in a Swiss ice hockey club. Tennis crack Stan Wawrinka was once on the board of directors of Lausanne and ex-NHL star Mark Streit and Roman Josi, the captain of the Nashville Predators, joined SC Bern. (sr)
