VW delivers electric SUV ID.4 in Germany

The first customers in Germany have received Volkswagen’s ID.4 electric SUV. The vehicles were handed over at the same time in the delivery center of the Transparent Factory in Dresden and the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. This year around 150,000 ID.4 are to be delivered worldwide. By the end of February, company information was available across Europe after 23,500 orders for the model.

“The start of the ID.4 was very successful, and the vehicle is well received by customers. And we still have big plans – we want to deliver around 150,000 of the ID.4s worldwide this year alone. That is around a third of our 450,000 electric vehicles planned for 2021. The global car is therefore an essential pillar of our accelerated e-offensive, ”says Volkswagen Sales Director Klaus Zellmer.

In order to provide customers with the best possible care, a large-scale training roadshow is running across Europe, in which more than 10,000 car dealership employees are taking part, emphasized Volkswagen. In addition to training on the vehicle itself, all related topics relating to e-mobility would be trained. Volkswagen’s Germany boss Holger B. Santel said at the handover of the first vehicle in Dresden: “Now the ID.4 is coming to our extensively prepared dealerships on a large scale. The employees in the companies are well trained. In addition, the trade offers a safe hygiene concept with individual appointments. Customers can now finally touch the ID.4, sit in, test drive it and order right away. ”

Delivery of the first Volkswagen ID.4 to customers in Wolfsburg

The ID.4 is offered in Germany in several equipment lines for different target groups from 36,950 euros. You can choose between three electric motors with 109 kW (148 PS), 125 kW (170 PS) and 150 kW (204 PS) and two battery packs with 52 and 77 kW storage capacity for a range of 343 to 522 kilometers in accordance with the WLTP standard . Regardless of the version, customers in Germany benefit from the € 9,000 “environmental bonus” with the ID.4: Volkswagen grants € 3,000 of the e-car purchase bonus financed by the federal government and industry as a net discount, € 6,000 comes from the state.

Like the ID.3, the first series of the VW ID. Family of electric cars, the ID.4 will also be able to receive regular updates and new functions “over the air” from summer onwards. Volkswagen promises that the vehicle will always be state-of-the-art. With a view to the top models ID.4 Tech and ID.4 Max, the Wolfsburg-based company advertises with an augmented reality head-up display that projects its displays into the driver’s field of vision and also dynamically displays selected symbols and merges them with reality.

Like the ID.3, the ID.4 is produced in the Zwickau electric car plant on a carbon-neutral basis and delivered to both locations in a CO2-neutral manner. According to Volkswagen, the factory in Zwickau recently started a third shift on the second assembly line for the production of the ID.family. The aim is to produce more than 1,400 vehicles per working day in summer in order to meet the high demand for the ID. Family.
