After almost 20 years, the TV broadcaster and Poptitan go their separate ways. Dieter Bohlen will probably not have to worry about money in the future either. His RTL salary should continue to flow until 2022.

Dieter Bohlen has been on the jury of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” since 2002 and shaped the casting show like no other. But RTL wants to set “fresh impulses” in the future and surprisingly announced last week that Poptitans would be thrown out. The grand finale on April 3rd will be Bohlen’s last DSDS appearance. His jury place for “Das Supertalent” will also be filled from autumn 2021.
The separation between the 67-year-old and the Cologne TV broadcaster behind the scenes will not happen that quickly – at least financially. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, Dieter Bohlen will continue to be paid by RTL even after he has left. And his “TV pension” is impressive: According to the report, Bohlen will receive an annual salary of around 2.5 million euros until at least 2022.
The deal is not yet dry. The Poptitan is said to have other contractual clauses, including bonus payments. So far, Bohlen has received extra money for good DSDS and “super talent” quotas, which would now be omitted. According to “Bild”, the TV star wants to have that checked first.
So far, Dieter Bohlen has not yet commented on his RTL-Aus. He is said to have called on his lawyers to clarify all open questions, including financial aspects.
