Tokio (ots/PRNewswire) The dearMoon project released a video announcement today announcing that it has opened the application process for eight civilians who will take part in a week-long expedition to fly SpaceX’s spaceship to the moon in 2023. The trip is made entirely by the Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa who is motivated by his curiosity and desire to see and appreciate the earth from a distance to lead this mission.

In the video announcement about his motivation behind the dearMoon project, Maezawa said, “I started to think that every single person who does something creative with their life is not an artist? With this in mind, I wanted to address a wider community with my invitation and give more people from around the world the chance to join this journey. If you see yourself as an artist, then you are an artist. “

SpaceX Chief Engineer Elon Musk said: “The really important thing about the dearMoon mission is that it will be the first private space flight with people outside of Earth orbit. I know Maezawa is also making space on the ship available for artists and others So he wants this to be something that is exciting and inspiring for the whole world. “

Based on his belief that all people are creative artists in their own way, Yusaku Maezawa encourages everyone who see themselves as an artist to apply under two conditions:

  • Applicants who want to become a member of the dearMoon crew must show that they can grow individually through this mission and ensure that their experiences represent future value for the world and make social contributions from which humanity will benefit for generations becomes.
  • Applicants must be able to support the other crew members who have the same potential and vision.
